Bi/CNS 163. Sleep and Dreams
Winter 2000
Reviews on reading assignments
Due: One week after discussing the papers in class.
Where: Email (gabrielk@caltech.edu)/ Beginning of class/ Mailbox (Gabriel Kreiman, Mailbox 139-74)
- Do not copy the paper. I have already read it.
- Criticize what you have read:
- Are there any controls that are missing?
- Are there any logical concerns with the interpretation of the results?
- Are there any confounding factors?
- Are the claims the authors make supported by the data they show?
- Suggest possible ways to continue the experiments:
- What new questions arise from the paper?
- How would you address these new questions experimentally?
- If you were a reviewer of the paper, would you recommend
- Accepting the paper without conditions
- Accepting the paper conditional on the completion of some additional experiments/ re-writing (which experiments/modifications would you request?)
- Rejecting the paper
